Dear Students,
Happy last two days of classes and well wishes as you begin finals. Before finals begin, it would be helpful to share some reminders that are especially important for students intending to remain on campus during the break.
All residence halls will close and the college meal plan will end on December 19 at 5 p.m.. The College overall will close for Winter Recess on December 22 and reopen January 2; only essential/emergency services will be available during this time. If there is an emergency, please contact Public Safety at 610-330-4444. Students are expected to depart campus within 24 hours of their last exam or by 5 p.m. on December 19 (whichever comes first) as key fobs will be deactivated at this time. Students remaining on-campus any later than December 19 must be approved by Residence Life if living in college-owned housing. If you missed the deadline to register for Winter Housing, please email reslife@lafayette.edu immediately. Following Winter Recess, students may return to their residence halls/campus room assignment beginning Saturday January 20. Only students with special permission as a member of a pre-approved team/group may prior to January 20; please remember to pack your key and fob before returning. If you will be returning to a new room assignment, please see the Residence Life page for information on where, when, and how to acquire the key to your new assignment.
Dining Options
Campus dining locations will be closed beginning at 5 p.m. on December 19 and reopen January 2. Simon’s Market, however, will remain open throughout this time and be accessible 24/7, and will be restocked with meals regularly. Off-campus locations that accept Pard Dollars remain options as well.
Starting with dinner on January 2 and ending with lunch on January 20, meals will be available in Kirby Sports Center (including weekends), inside the game room. Students who are on-campus may dine in this location for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pard Dollars will be the only acceptable form of payment; meal plans will not be active during this time. Students with meal restrictions/allergies should contact dining ahead of time at dining@lafayette.edu. Hours and costs will be as follows:
8-9:30 a.m. Breakfast ($4)
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Lunch ($7)
4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Dinner ($9)
Please note: Due to a planned partial power outage, Simon’s Market will be closed Dec. 27-28.
Transit
A special winter break LCAT shuttle service schedule will run on Tuesdays and Fridays, December 11 through January 19. The schedule includes transportation to Wegmans, Target, Giant, Walmart, and the Lehigh Valley Mall. Please see the winter break LCAT shuttle departure times if you need access to any of these locations.
Counseling Center
The Counseling Center will be open 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m.) during winter break weekdays for which the College is open until spring semester classes begin. Should you need mental health support when the Counseling Center is closed, students can speak with a crisis counselor by dialing the main number (610) 330-5005. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, please call Public Safety at (610) 330-4444. Additional crisis resources are also available. Togetherall, an online, peer-to-peer mental health community where you can receive and provide support anonymously, is available 24/7, 365 days a year.
Health Services
Bailey Health Center
Bailey Health Center will transition from regular hours on the last day of finals and will move to a 9 a.m.-4 p.m. schedule with a lunch break until December 22. Bailey Health Center will then be closed until January 2 when the College reopens. During the month of January, hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. until classes start.
Local Urgent Care/Non-Bailey
Should non-emergency medical needs arise, the local bus service, LANTA, has several routes that could provide transit to local urgent care facilities or hospitals. The list below includes those facilities and the corresponding LANTA Route/bus you would want to take that you may compare with the LANTA schedule.
Interim Hours for Recreation Services:
Operating hours for recreational facilities and services such as the Fitness Center will be amended during the break. Please see the Recreation Services page for hours.
Emergency Fund
Should an unexpected emergency arise for which you need immediate assistance, the College has an Emergency Fund available to assist should the need meet the parameters outlined.
Pard Pantry Hours
The Pard Pantry, located in the Leopard’s Lair of lower-level Farinon College Center, will be open on Sundays and Wednesdays over break beginning on December 24, between 5pm-8pm for students in need of food or hygiene products. Students with significant and unexpected food or other emergency needs should also consider submitting a request to the student emergency fund.
Between December 24th and January 2nd, Farinon College Center will be closed though the Pard Pantry will continue to be available during the days/times noted above. Students should arrive at the rear entrance to Farinon College Center for assistance to gain access to the building and space.
Library Hours

Good luck on finals. You’ve got this!
