Dear Lafayette College community:
As the spring 2019 semester gets underway, we are writing to remind you that thanks to the generosity of a grant from PNC Bank and in honor of the retirement of Dr. Jim and Donna Krivoski, a Student Emergency Fund Program exists to provide financial support to students experiencing hardship due to catastrophic events or other extenuating circumstances.
The program is designated for the sole purpose of assisting Lafayette students facing unexpected financial challenges. Because the account is partially comprised of donations, there is limited funding available.
This program is not associated with the financial aid application process. Financial aid applicants who have special circumstances that relate directly to billed costs should contact the Office of Financial Aid.
To be eligible to receive a grant from the program, an individual must be a full-time student of Lafayette College. The program assists students who have unexpected emergency expenses, particularly in situations of crisis, such as illness, the death of an immediate family member, or a significant medical emergency. Students may apply for emergency grant assistance when other traditional methods of funding have been exhausted. This program is not meant to replace existing financial aid and does not need to be repaid. Students are eligible for grants up to $1,000 per academic year.
Funding is awarded on a case-by-case basis. Factors that are considered include the student’s financial need, the nature of the funding request, and the availability of funding at the time the request is made. This program is available to all students, however, priority is given to students with the highest financial need.
All requests are confidential. No details are shared with a third party unless the student explicitly gives permission and only when there is a legitimate need. Details are shared amongst administering college offices in order to process funding requests.
Students may submit an application to the Student Emergency Fund Program by filling out this application on LafSync: https://orgsync.com/124119/forms/276971. Questions about the program can be directed to College Chaplain Alex Hendrickson.
